making
Ceramics is my primary making discipline, and my home studio has been Teachers College Ceramics Studio in New York City. My ceramics projects revolve around the relation between humans, books, and the natural world.
My latest series of pieces, Texts from the Future, is a set of ruined books recovered from an imagined, far-future, off-planet library. I think of these pieces as 'design fiction' - objects from imaginary futures that are intended to provoke creative conversations.
Work from the series has been exhibited in California and NYC - several pieces can be viewed in the Macy Gallery virtual exhibition tour here. Images of a larger subset of the pieces are here (instagram) and here (google drive). The artist statement is here.
I'm also interested in using AI image generation for environmental and social commentary: exploring what AI systems interpret in clashes between different ecological visions of alternative futures and pasts.
